INSURGENCY: Modern Infantry Combat was first released as a free to play total conversion mod for Source Engine in 2007. In the game’s first week alone it was downloaded by over 1 million people. Despite the game’s initial exposure, it was quite intense and frustrating and many people were driven away.

Through all of this, a small community continued to play the game quite seriously, and there has been an outcry for a new version – one that is visually refreshing, with new features and gameplay, and still captures the best moments from the original.
